This piece was created for the I Heart Justice poster show organized to benefit the Texas Appleseed Organization. 20 Artists were selected to created pieces which dealt with 1 of 5 social reform issues. I chose the 'School to Prison Pipeline' I wanted to bring visibility to some of the solutions or 'keys' to dismantling this system. But to also show how out of reach these things are for many. Empathy, Tolerance and Education are all that's needed to offer these students the hope and equality that they are not shown.
I designed this piece as part of the 2016 AfterHours Poster show in Austin Texas. The finished poster was produced as a three color screen print, 18" x 24" on a black stock. Limited to 40 prints only.
I was very honored to create this poster. Some of my favorite people whom I've met through touring, put on amazing shows at a 19th century mansion turned venue in Darmstadt Germany. They do an incredible job, and they reached out to me to work with them on this poster. The illustration is based largely off of the gender politics that lie at the heart of this groups message and purpose as a band.
This poster was inspired by Autumn; changing leaves, playful chipmunks, & a cozy color pallet. It was designed in early august in Texas, it is hot as hell, so I think I was wishing it was in fact September in the midwest. Represented here are a few variations on the design and details for use on different digital / social platforms. Who says posters can't be 'responsive'
The state bird of Missouri is the Eastern Bluebird, illustrated here on this poster for Springfield Missouri's own 'Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin' One of my favorite bands for many years, a true honor to design a show poster for them.
The future of gig-posters might be animated-gifs. maybe?
